Aura MCP Server

Hosted MCP server for Aura's workforce intelligence platform: query headcount trends, org structure, and company data across 20M+ companies.

Data & Enrichment by Aura Intelligence OAuth2 active
Overview

Aura is a workforce data and analytics platform, originally incubated by Bain & Company, that aggregates public hiring signals into a decision intelligence layer used by consultants, investors, and corporate strategy teams. The Aura MCP server is a provider-hosted remote MCP endpoint that exposes this dataset to Claude and other MCP-compatible AI clients, allowing natural language queries against roughly 20 million public and private companies and over 1 billion professional profiles.

Through the connector, agents can pull historical employee headcount (12+ months), role and function composition, seniority and tenure mix, geographic breakdowns, attrition signals, subsidiary mappings, and company firmographics like industry, HQ, and size. Typical workflows include workforce benchmarking, M&A and investment due diligence, competitive org structure comparison, and talent acquisition monitoring. Results can be summarized, visualized, or exported as CSV inside the chat.

The server is listed in Anthropic's official connector directory with a one-click setup flow for Claude. It is currently in beta, with sentiment analysis and job posting velocity features described as coming soon. Access requires a Claude Team, Enterprise, or Max plan plus either an existing Aura subscription or the $100/month self-serve plan (5-day trial) sold through Claude.

Setup Guide

Prerequisites

  • A Claude Team, Enterprise, or Max plan (required for remote MCP connectors).
  • An Aura account: either an existing Aura subscription, or the $100/month self-serve plan with a 5-day trial available through Claude.
  • Workspace Owner or Primary Owner permissions in Claude to attach an MCP server.

One-click install (recommended)

  1. Open Claude's connector directory.
  2. Search for "Aura" and select the Aura connector.
  3. Click "Connect" and sign in with the same credentials you use for the Aura Console to authorize the connector via OAuth.

Manual setup (Claude Desktop, custom connector)

If installing manually, add Aura as a remote MCP server in Claude Desktop:

  1. Open Claude Desktop, go to Settings, Connectors.
  2. Add a custom remote MCP server.
  3. Paste the Aura MCP endpoint URL provided in the Aura docs (https://docs.getaura.ai/) into the Remote MCP server URL field.
  4. Authorize the connector with your Aura Console credentials when prompted.

Notes

  • The server is hosted by Aura. There is no npm package or self-hosted Docker image to install.
  • Non-customers should contact sales@auraintel.com to provision access.
  • Aura states that no personal employee data is included in responses; data is aggregated and anonymized where applicable.
Use Cases
  • Investment due diligence: Validate a margin improvement thesis by pulling headcount, role mix, and attrition signals on a target company before a deal.
  • Competitive intelligence: Compare the sales, customer success, and product org structures of several SaaS vendors to benchmark go-to-market investment.
  • M&A target screening: Find all subsidiaries of a parent company with their headcount, or export a CSV of companies above a size threshold in a target sector.
  • Portfolio monitoring: Flag red signals across a portfolio, such as hiring slowdowns, function-level attrition, or org restructuring in a given quarter.
  • Talent and market research: Track how a competitor's engineering headcount and seniority mix have shifted over the last 12 months to inform hiring strategy.
Example Prompts
  • "Summarize Acme Corp's workforce trends over the last 12 months."
  • "How has Microsoft's hiring changed over the past year, broken down by function?"
  • "Compare the org structures of Salesforce and HubSpot, focusing on sales vs CS vs product."
  • "Find all subsidiaries of Microsoft and their employee counts, then export as CSV."
  • "Export a CSV of all companies with 500+ employees in the healthcare sector."
Pros
  • Official, provider-hosted connector listed in Anthropic's connector directory with one-click install.
  • Broad coverage: roughly 20M companies and 1B+ professional profiles, with 12+ months of historical headcount.
  • Purpose-built for strategy, deal, and consulting workflows rather than generic enrichment.
  • Aggregates only public data and excludes personal employee identifiers, easing compliance review.
Limitations
  • Gated behind a paid Aura subscription or $100/month self-serve plan plus a paid Claude Team/Enterprise/Max plan.
  • Currently in beta; sentiment analysis and job posting velocity features are described as "coming soon" rather than shipped.
  • Public documentation does not publish the exact MCP tool names or schemas, so tool inventory may evolve.
Alternatives
  • People Data Labs MCP / API: Person and company enrichment with hiring and firmographic data.
  • Apollo.io connectors: Company and contact data with hiring signals, oriented to sales workflows.
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator / Crustdata: Workforce and hiring trend data accessible via API for similar benchmarking use cases.
